Capacitor Discharge Welding Technology
Medium-voltage capacitor discharge welding technology
Medium voltage capacitor discharge resistance welding technology was invented by HERON in 2010 and features non-polarized capacitors made of metal film that do not easily decay or explode.
This welding method allows for a rapid rise in current and extremely short welding times within 30ms, while eliminating the need for water cooling of the welding transformer. Moreover, this technology is more compact than both low and high voltage options, and represents a safer alternative to high voltage capacitor discharge welding. In comparison to AC or MFDC resistance welding, the welding current curve of CDW proves optimal for projection welding, particularly in the case of fastener welding to hot stamping steel.
Range of applications
Capacitor discharge welding technology is widely used for projection welding of high strength steels, hot formed steels, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Main features

Powerful current pulse can be output in 5~30 ms.

Small heat-affected zone of the weld, low energy and electrode loss.

The small requirements on the power grid can significantly reduce the power grid supporting, with negligible impact from the welding process.

HERON's invention of medium-voltage capacitor discharge welding technology incorporates non-polar metal film capacitors that are resistant to decay and explosion, while also featuring a compact overall machine design.

Welding transformer without water cooling.

Short welding process and stable welding quality.

With a charging time of only 1 second, this product boasts exceptional productivity.
