Flush self-piercing riveting

The FSPR process involves automatically feeding a special rivet into the upper rivet head through special riveting equipment, punching and discharging the connected base material through the rivet during the punching process, and then forming a reliable connection after extrusion around the rivet through the lower die.

Range of applications

It is widely used in the riveting of multi-layer dissimilar metals such as high-strength aluminum alloys, hot stamping steel, and carbon fibers.

Main features

The process can rivet a variety of materials such as high-strength aluminum alloys, hot-formed steel, carbon fiber. Notably, it can successfully accomplish multi-layer riveting with a maximum total thickness of 9.1mm.
Good forming effect for appearance parts, rivet heads can be pre-painted or plated, with no raised bump after riveting.
Punching and riveting completed in one pass, no need to pre-punch riveting holes.
Rivets can be automatically fed via air-blow or clip feeding, enabling a fast and efficient riveting process.
Stable shear force, tension and riveting appearance.
Strong corrosion resistance, withstands up to 480 hours of salt spray testing.

Crafting process

Press workpiece stage

The stripper pre-press workpiece while FSPR rivet is fed into the lower press channel of die.

Embed FSPR rivet stage

Punch is pressurized downward and the FSPR rivet is punched and embedded in the workpiece.

Workpiece material extrusion molding stage

The punch continues to be pressurized while the stripper is pressurized and the FSPR rivet is fully embedded into the workpiece, while the workpiece material is extruded into the "dovetail" area in the middle of the FSPR rivet.
